Who we are
Gerald was brought up and educated in the Newtown area then graduated from Aberystwyth University with a degree in Economics and Business before entering a training contract with Whittingham Riddell in Shrewsbury. He qualified in 1986 and in 1987 moved to the Welshpool branch of Whittingham Riddell as a manager and was made branch partner in 1992. He bought out the branch practice in 2009 and set up Morgans retaining all Welshpool staff and clients.
Gerald’s parents ran an engineering business in Newtown and both sets of his grandparents were farmers, which gave him an early interest and insight to commercial and rural business together with a desire to practice accountancy and live in Mid Wales.
Gerald’s clients include professional practices, farmers and a variety of businesses who trade as Sole Proprietors, Partnerships, Limited Companies and LLP’s and he has considerable experience in all matters that affect these businesses including Capital Taxes, Income Tax, Inheritance Taxes and much more, with many of his clients using him as a “sounding board” for their ideas on many matters.
Gerald lives just outside of Guilsfield. He is married to Gaynor who works in the business and he has three daughters. Jennifer and Kathryn both graduated from Cardiff University in the summer of 2012. Kathryn is now working as an Industrial Psychologist based in Oswestry and Jennifer is furthering her education at the University of Law in Chester. Helen is in her final year at Coventry University studying physiotherapy.
Gerald is interested in all country matters and many sports.
Glen was born and brought up in Tregynon and went to Caereinion High School before graduating from the University College of North Wales Bangor with a degree in Accounting & Finance.
Glen qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996 with a medium sized local firm progressing to assistant manager of the audit team before moving into industry into a Company Accountant role. Glen returned to private practice in 2003 when he set up DGO Accounting Solutions Ltd. As the business grew, Glen took his expanding client base and joined Whittingham Riddell LLP as a senior manager in their Newtown Office. In September 2009, Glen joined Gerald Morgan as a director of his newly set up practice Morgans.
Glen advises businesses throughout Mid and North Wales and into Shropshire, drawing on his previous industry experience and providing a hands on and proactive service. Glen has a diverse portfolio of businesses, varying in size and structure, from sole traders and partnerships to limited companies and limited liability partnerships, advising on both their accountancy and taxation affairs.
Many of Glen’s clients use his skills for preparing management accounts, cash flows and business plans as well as their routine compliance matters with Companies House and HMRC. Glen has extensive experience of a range of computerised packages from Sage 50 Accounts to Sage 200 Accounts, Quickbooks and a variety of Payroll packages, on which his team will advise clients and provide training and support.
Many of Glen’s clients are well established successful businesses, but he also advises and assists new start-ups in all aspects from the initial set up of the business through to developing their accountancy system, preparing business plans and cash flow projections.
Outside of work, Glen enjoys spending time with his family in Llanerfyl where his daughter Elain and son Cai attend school at Ysgol Llanerfyl and in May 2011 his youngest son Guto was born. His wife Rhian is a solicitor and still works part-time while looking after the needs of the family. Glen is a keen sportsman, having played football with local side Dyffryn Banw for many years, and now enjoys veterans football, golf and mountain biking.
